with Us By Night

A title sequence for the 2017 Us By Night design festival held annually in Antwerp, Belgium. Each year the event takes place over three nights and is packed with over 65 contributors (talks, panel-discussion, tutorials and workshops). The titles were an experimental film for us as it was completely based on procedural workflows - a predefined DNA was created and essentially grew the animation without any further human interaction.

The entire film is one continuous shot of a growing superstructure that unfolds seamlessly and acts as a backdrop for the title cards. The growth and evolution is representative of personal development and the shaping of ideas whilst offering a sense of discovery into the unknown. The animation is of a generative nature and is procedurally built, meaning that thousands of unique versions could be created by just a flip of a switch.
