Why

Graphite required a brand film that could communicate its role in code review through a clear and coherent visual system.

The challenge was to balance abstraction with clarity. The film needed to feel considered and engaging, while making the process of building, reviewing and refining work immediately understandable.

How

We developed the film around an architectural approach, using structure and scale to make the idea of building more legible.

Forms are constructed, assessed and reworked over time, following a progression from build to review to amend and merge. This sequence reflects the underlying workflow of the product and drives both the visuals and the pacing.

The interface is integrated into this process, appearing as part of the system rather than separate from it. This creates a direct link between the abstract structures and how the product functions in practice.

Variation in scale, detail and material response is used to ground the work, giving each stage a sense of weight and presence while maintaining a consistent visual language.

Outcome

The film presents Graphite through a structured progression that mirrors the way code is developed and refined.

By aligning the visual system with the stages of review and iteration, the piece creates a clear connection between concept and function, resulting in a film that feels both expressive and grounded.
